New York City Vacation: Seeing a Broadway show is a common tourist activity in New York

Broadway, refers to theatrical performances presented in one of the 39 large professional theaters with 500 seats or more located in the Theatre District, New York (plus one theatre in Lincoln Center) in Manhattan, New York City

The Broadway theatre district is a popular tourist attraction in New York City. According to The Broadway League, Broadway shows sold approximately $937 million worth of tickets in the 2007-08 season. Total Broadway attendance in the 2007-2008 season was 12.27 million, which was approximately the same as the previous season.

Seeing a Broadway show is a common tourist activity in New York, and Broadway shows sell about a billion dollars worth of tickets annually. It also helps the tourist industry to generate billions more in restaurant and hotel revenues. The TKTS booths sell same-day tickets (and in certain cases next-day matinee tickets) for many Broadway and Off-Broadway shows at a discount of either 25%, 35% or 50%. (The TKTS booths are located in Duffy Square, in Lower Manhattan (199 Water Street—Corner of Front & John Streets), and in Brooklyn.) This service helps sell seats that would otherwise go empty and makes seeing a show in New York more affordable. Many Broadway theatres also offer special student rates, same-day "rush" or "lottery" tickets, or standing-room tickets to help ensure that their theatres are as full, and their "grosses" as high as possible.

New York City Vacation: Macy's Herald Square Square on 34th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue, New York, New York

Believe it or not, the worlds largest store is Macy's Herald Square. Its flagship store in Herald Square, New York City has been billed as the "world's largest store" since 1924. You have to see the new Macy's Kids on 7 (floor) - It is now the largest kids floor in the world.

The classic Christmas film Miracle on 34th Street (1947) is set in Macy's 34th Street flagship store. Subsequent remakes of the film for television (1955, 1959, and 1973) are also set here.

Macys Herald Square is also know for its excellent Christmas window diplay facing Broadway during the Christmas season. In 2008 Macys aims to show the best Christmas Window display ever. The theme of this year's display at the Herald Square flagship in New York - is the making of Christmas magic.

"I think kids will love it with all its crazy moving parts, and I want them to believe this is how things are made," explains Paul Olszewski, Macy's Herald Square director of windows.

It's not quite that easy: The windows are the result of a year's worth of work and a lot of fretting. He then spends the better part of the holiday season outside the windows with the crowd, hoping to see kids say, "Wow!" and also seeing what could work better.

New York City Vacation: The Metropolitan Museum of Art aka The Met - free admission- fifth avenue at 82nd street , new yok , new york

You haven't seen New York, until you've seen The Met.
This museum has remarkable exibition spanning 5,000 years

The Metropolitan Museum of Art supposedly charges a "suggested" admissions fee of $12. Give them like, a dollar or two to get the little admissions pin and walk right in.The museum gets tons of money from charitable contributions and rich people. Spend your money on food and souviners instead.

It is one of the most amazing museums in the entire world and is not to be missed. I went over this past summer and spent the entire day there. Its truly incredible. They have just renovated the Greek and Roman wings and they are incredible.
Also, spend the whole day if you are into photography , take yuor camera to the rooms filled with sculptures from the ancient world and take lots and lots of pictures- its so fun, and some of my favorite pictures I've ever taken have come from the museum

The Metropolitan may be the best museum of art in the world. You could spend months in there.

If you go to another museum such as Museum of Modern Art, the $20 entrance fee is fixed, not "suggested".

Manny Pacquaio vs Oscar De La Hoya results of the " Dream Match"

Manny Pacquaio defeated Oscar De La hoya after eight rounds of pounding for a TKO. De la Hoyas corner decided to not continue in the 9th round because according to his corner Manny Pacquaio is simply too fast for De La hoya. Between rounds, referee Tony Weeks told De La Hoya, "If you keep taking punches, I'm stopping the fight."

Manny Pacquiao's speed prevailed over De La Hoyas size. The bout was one sided and De la Hoya was on the receiving end of an ass whopping. Lots of boxing critics under estimated Manny Pacqiao. If you look at my previous post below, UFC's Brandon Vera and Roger Huerta made a bet that the loser will wear a chicken suit on a Saturday night and on a busy street corner for an hour. Roger Huerta picked De La Hoya so he gets to wear the chicken suit. Hope the boxing critics who picked De La Hoya gets to do the same.

New York Hot Dog Onion Sauce

If you have been to New York or planning a vacation to see the city. You will never miss somebody selling hotdogs in the street. I found this recipe in the internet for a tastly New York Hot Dog.

New York Hot Dog Onion Sauce

New York hot dog onion sauce (or, New York onion sauce) is served on pushcart hot dogs. The recipes vary.

15 March 1995, Elyria (OH) Chronicle-Telegram, pg. B8, col. 3:
NEW YORK PUSHCART HOT DOG ONION SAUCE

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 medium onions, cut in 1/4-inch slices
1/4 cup ketchup
Pinch of ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
Dash of hot pepper sauce
Dash of salt
1/2 cup water

In a medium-size skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat; add onion slices and saute for about 7 minutes, until golden and limp. Mix in ketchup, then add cinnamon, chili powder, hot pepper sauce and salt. Pour in water, stir. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for about 10 minutes. Serve over hot dogs. Serves 6 to 8.

Blackberry Storm - a touch smartphone made its debut in the US on November 21 2008

The Blackberry Storm is suppose to be release a month earlier. Verizon started selling the BlackBerry Storm on November 21, 2008, a smartphone with a touch screen. Verizon sells it for $199.99 with a two-year contact and after a $50 mail-in rebate, Blackberry Phones are the mob-e-mail leaders and the Storm release is the most direct shot at the iPhone. Lines were around the block when it came out and the phones are expected to be sold out. But by December 15 or earlier, the company will be making sure that Storm will be available in shelves of retailers for the holiday shopping season.

Unlike the iPhone, the Storm features a touch screen that depresses slightly when pressed, giving users the feel of a soft click. The letters on the screen will also light up when pressed. It has a back botton which the iphone lacks. I like the Blackberry Storm because it will allow you to check your email inside the New York Subways. BlackBerry handsets also boast robust e-mail capabilities that have famously attracted users such as President-elect Barack Obama.

More features of the Blackberry storm:
CAMERA:The Storm has 3.2 megapixels vs 2 megapixels on iphone. The Storm has image stabilization, white balance, autofocus, variable zoom and flash. It captures videos.
BATTERY: 2 weeks in standby and up to about 5½ hours using Verizon's CDMA network or overseas on Vodafone's GSM network.

Nikon Coolpix S210- my camera pick- this is my current camera

The Coolpix S210 is Nikon's slimmest camera to date, so it slips easily into a shirt pocket and very lighweight. But this palm-sized camera also comes loaded with plenty of power and technology to help you capture stunning shots.

why i love it?
I love Nikon
8 megapixels and 3x zoom
you can buy it now for $ 129.99 (mine was $179.99 so its better to wait)
I like the camera because it is available in black. (Comes in 2 colors plum and black.)
It takes great pictures and videos and very user friendly. After unboxing the camera i didnt have to read the manuals to learn the features. I shoot lots of pictures and were able to use the features immediately.

This is the best feautures of S210
Nikon D lighting photo editing feature. When the background is so bright the persons face will be underexpose so u cant see the face it becomes dark due to the bright sun in the background. In the camera you just push a botton and u can brightin up the image so you can see the person.
I wish i had this camera in the begining of summer. i have lots of underexpose image from the beach and stadiums.

But if had know that the S550 (same apperance as the the S210)is available i would have bought it.
This is better because it has 10 megapixels and 5x zoom.
Blink alert. The camera alerts you that somebody blinks and so you can try taking the picture again.
Smile shutter - when you are focusing the person in the shot, it shots when person cracks smile.

I love this camera !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

coming soon: nokia touch screen 5800 - "nokia 5800 xpressMusic" touch screen handset

The Nokia 5800 is designed for young folks whose lives revolve around music. The $407 price tag, before taxes and subsidies, is more than a third below that of an unsubsidized iPhone. And the 5800 will be available from a range of telcom companies, unlike the iPhone, which is officially available only from select providers such as O2 (TEF) in Britain or T-Mobile (DT) in Germany.

why is the Nokia 5800 a neat gadget?
1 made by Nokia who has 40% market in the global handset market
2 affordable to the youth market who are heavy music consumers
3 beginning next year, the phone will feature Nokia's Comes With Music service—a year's worth of downloads from a catalog that includes all four major labels and 4 million songs

HOW TO LIVE LONGER -

DONT DRINK SODA:
Scientists in Boston recently found that drinking one or more regular or diet sodas every day doubles your risk of metabolic syndrome-- combination of conditions that increase your chances of heart disease and diabetes. Experts also speculate that exposing your tastebuds to the sweet fizzy flavor of soda conditions you to crave sugary foods, which can lead to weight gain. Whatever the reason, it's an easy enough habit to quit.

DRINK ENOUGH WATER:
You've probably heard you need about eight glasses of water a day. Drinking water and even eating "watery" foods like melon, greens, and other fruits and vegetables has enormous health benefits, including warding off fatigue.

DRINK AND EAT PURPLE THINGS
Red wine, concord grapes, blueberries (okay, not quite purple, but close enough) all get that deep rich color from polyphenols- compounds that reduce heart disease risk and may even protect against Alzheimer's disease, according to new research.

KEEP LEGS STRONG
Lower-body strength means you also have good balance, flexibility, and endurance. While you probably care more about how your legs look in a mini and a pair of knee-high boots right now, as you get older those attributes reduce your risk of falls, injuries, and hip fractures, all of which are associated with declining health in older folks. So do some squats, lunges, and stair climbing.

healthy ways to cook vegetables- lower your risk of a hearth attack

The researchers found that people who eat a diet high in fried foods, salty snacks, eggs and meat --- had a 35 percent greater risk of having a heart attack than people who consumed little or no fried foods or meat.

People who ate a "Prudent Diet" -- high in leafy green vegetables, other raw and cooked vegetables, and fruits -- had a 30 percent lower risk of heart attack than those who ate little or no fruit and veg, the study showed.

Cooked vegetables lose vitamins, minerals, colors and flavors if not cooked properly. Here are some fast and healthy ways to cook vegetables.

Steaming
Steaming is fast, preserves nutrients, and it works best for fresh and frozen vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, spinach and roots like beets, parsnips, peas and beans. If you don't have a steaming basket, you can fill a pot with mixed vegetables and add about 1 1/2 inches of unsalted water and cover. Simmer until the vegetables are tender. Check often to make sure that the water doesn't evaporate. If it gets too low, just add a little more water. Don't forget to keep the remaining broth for soup or do what I do, pour it in a nice mug and enjoy the warm flavorful broth.

Roasting
Roasting is quick, simple, and is an excellent way for cooking vegetables as it preserves the vitamins, flavors and minerals. In a large bowl, cover sliced vegetables with olive oil. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Place them on a cookie sheet and roast them at 350 degrees until tender.

Stir- frying
Stir-frying is another very good flavor and color preserving cooking method. Sliced vegetables are put in frying pan covered at bottom with any liquid for cooking such as chicken broth or a broth made from stir-fry seasonings. Constantly stir the vegetables until they are crispy and glossy.

As most of the ways I described are based on waterless cooking as it reduces cooking time, makes cooking easy, easy clean of cooking ware and most of all no loss of nutrient in juices of vegetable giving more flavor to food.

Panning
Vegetables can also be cooked by the steam produced by their own vegetable juices. In a fry pan, add a little olive oil, sliced vegetables and your favorite seasonings. Cover the pan, put it on medium heat, and within 5-8 minutes you’ll have spicy and crispy vegetables. Stir often. Panning works best for carrots, beans, summer squash and shredded cabbage.

apple iphone vs blackberry

Lookout, Blackberry (RIMM) has the Storm coming out for the 2008 holiday season
which Verizon is loading up in every sales reps hands.

"I own an IPHONE and a Blackberry. The IPHONE is really a slick piece of junk. The only thing I like about it is the ability to play music and videos. The Blackberry is solid and functional. I can actually type while I am walking, driving or outdoors. You can't do any of these with the IPHONE. I have big fingers and find the IPHONE close to useless to text or e-mail on. Very slow and laborious. The iPhone 3g burns through it's battery in about a day under normal use. So, my take is if you want something for business the Blackberry is a must. If you want to watch a video on the plane and don't want to carry around a $100 DVD player, buy the IPHONE. The problem I see with Apple is "where's the beef?" They PC lines are all WAY overpriced and hard to get. If you want to go run out and buy a $700 laptop for your neice going to college you can forget Apple. And if you don't live in New York or Los Angeles you'll probably have to get your Apple online."

How to cure or prevent hangover- eat a heavy meal before drinking, aspirin, water, ru-21 suppliment and gatorade

I like dringking alcohol but I hate hangover in the morning.
My personal technique to fight hangover in the morning is to drink lots of water after drinking and then some more during bedtime.

These are hangover cures and preventions:

1. Eat a heavy meal before drinking
Food delays gastric emptying in the stomach -- meaning alcohol stays there longer and is processed more slowly. Don't drink on an empty stomach. "The longer alcohol stays in the stomach," says Dr. Swift, "the better your body breaks it down."

2.Aspirin
Popping two the night before fights off headaches before they start . But be careful. "Aspirin can irritate the stomach," says Dr. Swift. And mixing alcohol and Tylenol can damage the liver.

3. RU-21 supplement
It slows down the creation of a nasty by-product -- the one that causes headaches and nausea -- while speeding up the destruction of others.

4. Stay Hydrated: Water
Alcohol inhibits secretion of the hormone vasopressin, bringing on dehydration, which exacerbates the symptoms of intoxication. Drink loads at the end of a night, or drink throughout the evening. A glass of water every hour is a great idea.

5. Gatorade
Gatorade's six percent carbohydrate solution promotes rehydration better than mere water. Drink one or more huge bottles at the end of the night. You will feel better in the morning. The extra salt helps your body absorb the fluid more quickly.

Avoid salt if you are in a weight loss program because salt will retain water.

get cheap internet service - internet providers are having a price war to win customers

Cable and phone companies have competed for broadband customers for more than a decade. Now the market is maturing quickly. Some 60% of U.S. households currently have a high-speed Internet connection.

Verizon Communications Inc., last quarter became the first company ever to see a drop in DSL subscribers. Cable companies picked up 75% of the new customers, sending the phone companies into a scramble. As bandwidth-hungry applications like video downloads grow, customers prefer the generally faster speeds cable offers. Cable companies have also been marketing more aggressively in recent months, analysts say.

Buy a cheap house: How to buy foreclosed house or homes at auction

I have bought and sold many foreclosures. I started in the 1980's when many fewer people were doing it. The process varies from state to state. In both FL and NC the auctions are held on the courthouse steps, in the county seat. In FL, lets say the home is sold for $100K. If you don't research the title, you may be purchasing a second mtg. You would then be responsible for the first mtg and the second. It is very important to do your homework. Then, you will need 5% down in the form of cash or a chashiers check made payable to the clerk of the court. The balance will be due after 10 days also in the form of cash or cashiers check. Not very often, the owner will be able to hold off the foreclosure process in that 10 day period by filing for chapter 7, 9, 11, or 13. When that happens, the courts will refund you your money but it takes about 4-6 weeks. In NC, you also need 5% down on the day of the auction but now the 10 day period after the sale is open to anyone that wants to still put in an "upset bid". This process continues until a 10 day period goes by without anyone bidding again. Then the balance is due in the form of cash or cashiers check. All other mtg's are wiped clean in NC. The process is different from state to state. I would suggest you go to the courthouse and lookup the upcoming sales (they are posted somewhere just ask) and watch the process. Then, contact and pay an attorney for advice on how it works in the state you are in. I should say I have all but left the foeclosure business because of the volitility of the market. Be very careful, do your homework, and make sure you know what you are buying.

Health Insurance:

The term health insurance is generally used to describe a form of insurance that pays for medical expenses. It is sometimes used more broadly to include insurance covering disability or long-term nursing or custodial care needs. It may be provided through a government-sponsored social insurance program, or from private insurance companies. It may be purchased on a group basis (e.g., by a firm to cover its employees) or purchased by individual consumers. In each case, the covered groups or individuals pay premiums or taxes to help protect themselves from high or unexpected healthcare expenses. Similar benefits paying for medical expenses may also be provided through social welfare programs funded by the government.

Health insurance works by estimating the overall risk of healthcare expenses and developing a routine finance structure (such as a monthly premium or annual tax) that will ensure that money is available to pay for the healthcare benefits specified in the insurance agreement. The benefit is administered by a central organization, most often either a government agency or a private or not-for-profit entity operating a health plan.
A Health insurance policy is a contract between an insurance company and an individual. The contract can be renewable annually or monthly. The type and amount of health care costs that will be covered by the health plan are specified in advance, in the member contract or Evidence of Coverage booklet. The individual policy-holder's payment obligations may take several forms:

Premium: The amount the policy-holder pays to the health plan each month to purchase health coverage.
Deductible: The amount that the policy-holder must pay out-of-pocket before the health plan pays its share. For example, a policy-holder might have to pay a $500 deductible per year, before any of their health care is covered by the health plan. It may take several doctor's visits or prescription refills before the policy-holder reaches the deductible and the health plan starts to pay for care.
Copayment: The amount that the policy-holder must pay out of pocket before the health plan pays for a particular visit or service. For example, a policy-holder might pay a $45 copayment for a doctor's visit, or to obtain a prescription. A copayment must be paid each time a particular service is obtained.
Coinsurance: Instead of paying a fixed amount up front (a copayment), the policy-holder must pay a percentage of the total cost. For example, the member might have to pay 20% of the cost of a surgery, while the health plan pays the other 80%. Because there is no upper limit on coinsurance, the policy-holder can end up owing very little, or a significant amount, depending on the actual costs of the services they obtain.
Exclusions: Not all services are covered. The policy-holder is generally expected to pay the full cost of non-covered services out of their own pocket.
Coverage limits: Some health plans only pay for health care up to a certain dollar amount. The policy-holder may be expected to pay any charges in excess of the health plan's maximum payment for a specific service. In addition, some plans have annual or lifetime coverage maximums. In these cases, the health plan will stop payment when they reach the benefit maximum, and the policy-holder must pay all remaining costs.
Out-of-pocket maximums: Similar to coverage limits, except that in this case, the member's payment obligation ends when they reach the out-of-pocket maximum, and the health plan pays all further covered costs. Out-of-pocket maximums can be limited to a specific benefit category (such as prescription drugs) or can apply to all coverage provided during a specific benefit year.
Capitation: An amount paid by an insurer to a health care provider, for which the provider agrees to treat all members of the insurer.
In-Network Provider: A health care provider on a list of providers preselected by the insurer. The insurer will offer discounted coinsurance or copayments, or additional benefits, to a plan member to see an in-network provider. Generally, providers in network are providers who have a contract with the insurer to accept rates further discounted from the "usual and customary" charges the insurer pays to out-of-network providers.

Prescription drug plans are a form of insurance offered through some employer benefit plans in the US, where the patient pays a copayment and the prescription drug insurance part or all of the balance for drugs covered in the formulary of the plan.

Some, if not most, health care providers in the United States will agree to bill the insurance company if patients are willing to sign an agreement that they will be responsible for the amount that the insurance company doesn't pay. The insurance company pays out of network providers according to "reasonable and customary" charges, which may be less than the provider's usual fee. The provider may also have a separate contract with the insurer to accept what amounts to a discounted rate or capitation to the provider's standard charges. It generally costs the patient less to use an in-network provider.

Health plan vs. health insurance

Historically, HMOs tended to use the term "health plan", while commercial insurance companies used the term "health insurance". A health plan can also refer to a subscription-based medical care arrangement offered through health maintenance organization, HMO, PPO, or POS plan. These plans are similar to pre-paid dental, pre-paid legal, and pre-paid vision plans. Pre-paid health plans typically pay for a fixed number of services (for instance, $300 in preventive care, a certain number of days of hospice care or care in a skilled nursing facility, a fixed number of home health visits, a fixed number of spinal manipulation charges, etc.) The services offered are usually at the discretion of a utilization review nurse who is often contracted through the managed care entity providing the subscription health plan. This determination may be made either prior to or after hospital admission (concurrent utilization review).

Comprehensive vs. scheduled

Comprehensive health insurance pays a percentage (may be 100, 90, 80, 70, 60, 50, percent) of the cost of hospital and physician charges after a deductible (usually applies to hospital charges) or a co-pay (usually applies to physician charges, but may apply to some hospital services) is met by the insured. These plans are generally expensive because of the high potential benefit payout — $1,000,000 to 5,000,000 is common — and because of the vast array of covered benefits.

Scheduled health insurance plans are not meant to replace a traditional comprehensive health insurance plans and are more of a basic policy providing access to day-to-day health care such as going to the doctor or getting a prescription drug. In recent years, these plans have taken the name mini-med plans or association plans. These plans may provide benefits for hospitalization and surgical, but these benefits will be limited. Scheduled plans are not meant to be effective for catastrophic events. These plans cost much less then comprehensive health insurance. They generally pay limited benefits amounts directly to the service provider, and payments are based upon the plan's "schedule of benefits". Annual benefits maximums for a typical scheduled health insurance plan may range from $1,000 to $25,000.

US Mens Basketball wins gold in 2008 Olympics in beijing

In the final day of the 2008 Olympics, the US mens basketball defeated Spain 118-107 to get the gold. It was a close game with the US leading only by 4 points with 2 and a half minutes to go. The final score became lopsided when the Americans hit a bunch of free throws after the Spanish became frustrated and were called for the technicals.
This was not an easy game for the US because the Americans had won their first seven games by 30 points. They beat Spain by 37 points earlier in the tournament. Their price is the gold which they had in 2000 Olympics. Throughout the tournament the US who invented basketball compiled perfect 8-0 record. Dwayne Wade led the team with 27 points and 4 steals. Kobe Bryant finished with 20 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds. For Spain Rudy Fernandez scored 22 points and Pau Gasol scored 21 points.
